Baked Macaroni & Summer Sausage
Here is a delicious spin on an old favorite – Macaroni & Cheese. We change things up a bit with our Ohlemacher’s sausage and cheese curds. Add a little spice and use our habanero cheese curds and/or spicy summer sausage. Enjoy!
2 C. Uncooked macaroni (your choice of pasta)
2 T. Butter (softened)
2 T. Flour (White or wheat)
2 C. Milk
1/4 TSP. Pepper
1/2 C. Seasoned bread crumbs
1/2 LB. Ohlemacher’s Cheddar Cheese Curds (Habanero, Garlic/Dill or White Cheddar
6 OZ. Ohlemacher’s Summer Sausage (Regular, Jalapeno, Garlic or Spicy)
Cook the macaroni till tender. Drain well, place in a well buttered, flat baking dish. Using the softened butter, flour, milk and pepper, make a white sauce, set aside. Break up the Cheese curds into small pieces and push them into the macaroni, evenly spaced. Cube or dice the summer sausage then place it into the macaroni. Pour the white sauce evenly over the macaroni and cheese. If you like, you can add a vegetable of your choice also to macaroni. Sprinkle the seasoned bread crumbs evenly over the top.
Bake about 30 minutes in a 325 degree oven.
